Hello from Virginia...
Its always hard to write a blog after a long lapse. I don't think I have written since November. Wow! Thats a long time to not write because I know a lot has happened since then. I always tell people that I am not a constant blogger, that I only write when I have something to say. If you know me very well, you know I always have something to say!
We are in Virginia, staying with Donald and Laura (and Ben). Laura and I have been working every day; coming up with new design ideas, sewing up new patterns, just having fun. Donald has been traveling for work a lot lately, he even went to California while we were here. Talk about ironic.
One of our new designs is the Circle The Geese Medallion. It measures 48" square with a small outer border on it but the circle and background alone makes a square that measures 42", which is also what the diameter of the circle is if you leave the background fabric off of it. This medallion could be the center of a much larger quilt if you want. Its a versatile block and is so much simpler to make than it looks. And, its great for playing with colors. This pattern is available on the website right now.
We came to Virginia to do the Mid-Atlantic quilt show in Hampton and the plan was to go to Atlanta for a quilt show there this past weekend. However, due to circumstances beyond my control, I had to cancel that show. But, with my bad luck, comes your good luck. I decided I didn't want to haul all the fabric kits back home if I didn't have to, so we decided to put most all of our kits on sale - 15% off. Check out the specials on our website to see which ones are included. And remember, if you order $100 or more, shipping is free!
The Double Wedding Ring Rail Quilt is a spin on the normal Double Wedding Ring block. The rings are solid fabric, not pieced and the background fabrics are where the vibrant colors come from. That makes this large quilt go much more quickly. Our sample is made using a fat quarter collection from Kaffe Fasset. We deliberately laid this one out like this to give large expanses for beautiful quilting. We have a limited quantity of fabric kits for this quilt but there are so many fabrics that would work to make this a stunning quilt.
I absolutely love the way these colors mix and swirl. Its just a Log Cabin Block with a twist. The pattern includes 16 foundation blocks (10" finished) to make this stunning table topper. If you want a bigger project, extra blocks are available in a package of twelve. Remember, the block packages do not have instructions in them, just a cutting chart.
Laura has switched her live sew-alongs to our YouTube page. Click on the link on our website to subscribe. Her Lives are most Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 10 to noon EDT. You can ask her questions, see what she is working on and get tips and tricks from the comfort of your own sewing room. She will do flash sales that are available to our subscribers only and you will get to see our new projects first, before we introduce them to the public. Its a great group of people so you might want to give it a try.
I have orders to get out so I need to run. I hope to be back here in a few days with a couple more projects to share with you. Until then, HAPPY QUILTING!
