Holiday season is coming!

I can't believe summer is over! Where did it go? And now, all of a sudden, its time to get ready for the holidays. Laura made the cute table runner, Pumpkins and Corn and now I want one for my table! Fabric kits for the Pumpkins and Corn Table Runner are available and ready to ship. This is my favorite time of year. I love how it smells outside after that first good rain, although I hate the soggy leaves on the ground. And with the cooler weather, I just want to stay inside and sew. What quilter can't relate to that?
Years ago, I designed a Double Wedding Ring quilt but I was never really happy with it. It was a good block but I just felt there had to be a better way. I worked on a new one every now and then and finally decided I needed to get serious about it. This one comes together so easily now and everything just fits so well. I can't stop making these.

This one is in line to be quilted. We also have fabric kits available for this one. I love using the Ombre fabrics for the rings to get the perfect gradation.
While working on the original Double Wedding Ring, we also designed the Wedding Star Table Runner.

This one is also done using the Ombre fabric that goes from a very light coral color to purple. So of course, purple stars! Fabric kits are available in this color-way. This one is actually about half quilted so should be done soon.
And, while working on these blocks/designs, Bob asked me to play around to change the star. We came up with this design:

This one was lots of fun to do to make the rings look woven where they intersect and the stars stand out on their own. With the rings not being pieced, it goes together quickly. If you are looking for a quick project, this is it. Fabric kits are available for this runner as well.
All of these patterns are currently being designed as larger throw and bed quilts so keep watching for their introductions. I will try to do better with the blogs to keep you posted about them as well.
This month (October) our sale is kind of random stuff. We have the Fish Banner (a super easy project), the Boat Banner, Boat Blocks, and stripes; Jelly Cake throw quilt, Roman Candy Table Topper/Lap Quilt, Diagonal Stripe Blocks, Roman Stripe Blocks and Half Square Triangle Blocks. The code for these (10% off) is SUMMERSTRIPES10. Be sure to put the code in at checkout to get your 10% off. I will be showing different samples of these throughout the month to give you ideas for quick gifts or as a gift to yourself.

The Jelly Cake Throw quilt is super easy and super fast. Our very un-original name comes from the supply list for this; a Jelly Roll and a Layer Cake. Sometimes you just have to go with the obvious. There is some coordinating yardage to go with it and if you want it slightly larger, add a border around the outside. I think I have made six of these quilts and each time, I set the blocks a little differently to get a little different effect. Its really very versatile and could be beautiful done as a scrap quilt.
One nice thing about having planted my tomatoes so late this year and with our mild weather, we are still getting a ton of tomatoes rather late in the season. If I bring the plants into the greenhouse when the temperature starts to go down, I think we will have tomatoes until the end of the year. Bob couldn't be happier.

I need to get quilting! I hope we have helped to inspire you for some projects as you get ready for the holiday season. Until next time, Happy Quilting!
