Laura is now doing Live Sew-Alongs most weekday mornings (they start between 10:00 and 11:00 am EDT).  She makes different blocks or projects so you can actually see someone using our product.  Its a great opportunity to ask her questions and see how easy it is to do.  She is on TikTok so if you sign up you will get a notice when she goes live.  Check it out.

Geese Around the Crazy Heart

In keeping with our "Scrappy Year" theme, I made this little (20" x 20") cutie from my stash as a sample for the class I am teaching at the guild in Napa tomorrow.  Its called Geese Around the Crazy Heart and perfect for a beginning project,

Marvin's Star

We have the Marvin's Star Fabric kits now available.  We offer it with the black background fabric or, the same 32 colors for the wheel but with a marbled beige background.  Laura is currently making that block with the beige background so pictures will be up as soon as she is done.  I know some of you are wondering where these names come from.  I have designed 12 different Mariner's Compass blocks that will eventually be offered as a queen/king quilt in two formats:  the complete package or as a block of the month.  I am playing around with a name for this big quilt and its something like "Stars of My Family" and has the names of my family members that have helped or encouraged me along this journey.  Marvin was my paternal grandfather and as a child, I spent a lot of time with him on the ranch.  It was just the two of us and he imparted so much wisdom and encouragement to follow my dreams.  Our Ruby's Star block was named for Marvin's wife Ruby.  I like to think I am very much like her.  We lost her way too young but I was lucky enough to have her in my life for my first ten years.  She was the ultimate grandmother.  There wasn't anything she couldn't do.  She sewed, gardened, did lapidary work, had an outside room filled with singing birds, was an excellent horse-woman and could she cook!

Miniature Arkansas Star

Remember, this month's specials includes our miniature patterns.  This is the Miniature Arkansas Star Quilt.  The blocks finish at two inches.  So, grab those little leftovers from a quilt project and make one of these to frame and hang on the wall to go with the quilt.  Or if you gifted the quilt, keep the mini as a reminder. Use the code MINICRAZY10 when you check out to get your discount.  This sale runs through the end of May.

The weather has been sunny but still a little cool.  We are in the process of turning our "catio" into a small greenhouse where I can start seeds, have a couple of tomato plants and a large herb garden.  The cats can still go through it to use the pet door into the house but they all love to be outside.  They (4) come in at various times to grab a bit of food and get some loving from us but mostly they are outside which is perfect for me.  So, I am anxious to finish the "green house".  I have everything I need to finish it up except the time.  I think that is how I am going to spend my Mother's Day.  Gardening is my other love and I really can't think of anything that could make me happier.

Speaking of Mother's Day, I want to wish all of you mothers a very wonderful weekend and I hope you get to spend it with those that made you a mother. Unfortunately, Donald is travelling this week and next so he won't be here or with Laura to help her celebrate.  But, I know he will be thinking about us and that he will call (from Hawaii! – for work).

HAPPY QUILTING!!
